Pair of Top-5 finishes in Topless 100 at Batesville Motor Speedway

Dale McDowell returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Thursday night at Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Ark.) to kick off the 28th annual Comp Cams Topless 100 weekend. Following the second fastest lap overall in time trials behind Jimmy Owens, Dale streaked to a 10-lap heat race victory, which positioned him second on the starting grid for the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature. Fading one spot in the 30-lap affair, McDowell posted a third place finish Tim McCreadie and Jimmy Owens with Earl Pearson Jr. and Billy Moyer Jr. completing the Top-5 finishers. On Friday evening for another $5,000-to-win preliminary feature, McDowell locked his spot into the show with a second place finish in his heat behind Jimmy Owens. Holding his spot for all 30 laps, Dale recorded a seventh place finish.

With preliminary finishes from Thursday and Friday setting the grid for Saturday night’s main event, Dale earned the fourth-starting position for $40,000-to-win finale. Losing one spot in the 100-lap affair, McDowell notched a fifth place finish behind Jimmy Owens, Earl Pearson Jr., Tim McCreadie, and Billy Moyer.
