Dirt Late Model Stream brings Dale McDowell to Eldora
With the 26th annual Dirt Late Model Dream getting postponed to 2021, Dale McDowell was one of 48 Late Models invited to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday night for the Dirt Late Model Stream Invitational. Coming two spots shy of a transfer position in his heat with a sixth place finish, McDowell went on to pick up a 12-lap consolation victory, which positioned him 20th on the starting grid for the opening night preliminary feature. With $10,000 on the line, Dale improved seven spots in the 30-lapper to register a 13th place outing. (Zach Yost Racing Photography)
The following night for another $10,000-to-win preliminary feature, Dale laid down the 12th fastest time overall in qualifying before placing second in his heat behind Devin Moran. Receiving the pole position for the A-Main via the draw, McDowell set the pace early for the first 11 circuits but faded back to a third place finish in the remaining distance, trailing Brandon Overton and Jimmy Owens across the line with Devin Moran and Josh Richards rounding out the Top-5.
Sitting in 10th overall in preliminary points, McDowell locked into the third-starting position for his heat race on Saturday afternoon. Posting a second place finish behind Brandon Sheppard, Dale earned the sixth-starting position for the $50,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Stream. With an ongoing battle for the top spot taking place ahead of him throughout the 67-lapper, McDowell fought off car issues after a restart to place third behind Tim McCreadie and Bobby Pierce with Brandon Sheppard and Chris Ferguson completing the Top-5 finishers.
