12th-place finish at Smoky Mountain Speedway

Saturday night saw Dale McDowell return with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the ninth annual Tennessee Tipoff. With 51 Late Models crammed into the pit area, Dale came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fourth place finish, transferring him into the B-Main. Streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory, McDowell locked into the 19th-starting position for the main event.
