For the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals sanctioned program on Friday at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.), McDowell’s third-place finish in his heat race pinned him on the fifth row for the feature. With $10,053 on the line, Dale raced forward four spots to finish fifth. He followed Brandon Overton, Jonathan Davenport, Chris Ferguson, and Dale McDowell across the line.
On Saturday, McDowell stopped at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.) for the event co-sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals and the Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series. With 36 Late Models entered for the second annual Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial, Dale timed in second-fastest in his group before placing second in his heat. Rolling off sixth for the $21,000-to-win A-Main, McDowell passed three cars in the 60-lap affair to place third. He stood alongside race-winner Chris Madden and Ricky Weiss on the podium.Back to News
