Dale McDowell paces to fifth in Dirt Track World Championship at Eldora
Dale McDowell took the Shane McDowell Racing No. 17m Late Model into battle at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) over the weekend as the famed half-mile oval hosted the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) for the 43rd annual Dirt Track World Championship.
With the originally slated two-day show condensed by persistent rain throughout the weekend, McDowell backed up the 17th-fastest qualifying lap in his group on Saturday with a sixth-to-third run in his heat race on Sunday afternoon.
Earning the 15th-starting position for the $100,000-to-win Dirt Track World Championship, Dale navigated through the field 10 spots in the 100-lapper to register a fifth-place finish. He followed Brandon Sheppard, Hudson O’Neal, Devin Moran, and Tim McCreadie across the line in the eventful 100-lap affair.
