McDowell returns to Volusia for Federated DIRTcar Nationals
After Monday’s opener was rained out midway through the event, Dale McDowell returned to Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) on Tuesday for the second round of the 53rd annual DIRTcar Nationals.
Pinned on the seventh row for the $7,000-to-win prelim via the final spot in his heat race, McDowell was an early retiree from the 25-lap affair on the lap 13.
With the 48-car field split into three groups on Wednesday, Dale was sidelined on the 14th circuit while running eighth in his 20-lap preliminary.
A pair of early exits on Thursday and Friday in both features brought a disappointing end to the weekend for McDowell after Saturday’s DIRTcar Nationals finale was rained out.
