Dale McDowell joins Southern Nationals for opening stretch; fourth-place finish at I-75 Raceway
Joining the tour during their opening weekend, Dale McDowell was one of 23 Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Series entries at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.) on Saturday.
After dodging rain showers all evening, McDowell started eighth in the $10,053-to-win feature and finished 16th.
Racing in his home state the following two nights, Dale ran inside the Top-5 at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) before late contact with another competitor sent McDowell into the wall and ended his night.
McDowell had much better luck on Tuesday evening at I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tenn.) where he landed a Top-5 finish in fourth.
