McDowell opens 2026 with eighth-place showing in Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park

Joining the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for their opening weekend, Dale McDowell and the Shane McDowell Racing crew also kicked off their 2026 race season at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) for the Sunshine Nationals.

Finishing 11th in the opener on Thursday, McDowell recorded his best outing on Friday evening where he started 15th in the $12,000-to-win main event and raced his way to a Top-10 finish in eighth. On Saturday, Dale fell back in his heat race and was unable to make the $20,000 finale.
