Dale McDowell grabs Top-5 in 2025 season debut at Smoky Mountain Speedway
Making his first start behind the wheel of the Shane McDowell Racing No. 17M in 2025, Dale McDowell was one of 45 World of Outlaw Late Model entries at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) on Friday afternoon for the two-day Tennessee Tipoff.
Laying down the second-fastest lap in his stacked qualifying group, McDowell ran second in his heat race which placed him on the third-row for the $12,000-to-win main event. Dale slipped back on the initial start but regained his speed and landed inside the Top-5 in fourth. He trailed Bobby Pierce, Jonathan Davenport, and Nick Hoffman while Devin Moran completed the Top-5.
Saturday's $15,000-to-win finale was called off due to the potential for severe weather.
