Dale McDowell sixth in The Dream; records podium outing in FloRacing Night in America show
Dale McDowell unloaded his Shane McDowell Racing No. 17M machine at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday afternoon as over 80 Super Late Model drivers kicked off the 31st-annual Dream weekend at The Big E.
Starting off the four-day weekend, McDowell set quicktime in his stacked qualifying group before he finished second in a heat race. Dale started eighth in the $20,000-to-win FloRacing Night in America show and drove up five positions to land on the podium in third. He trailed Bobby Pierce and Hudson O'Neal while Nick Hoffman and Garrett Alberson completed the Top-5.
McDowell was slated for Thursday's preliminary night which saw him clock in third-fastest in his qualifying group and finish fourth in his heat. Dale started ninth in the prelim and finished sixth after the A-Main was pushed to Friday due to weather.
Primed for the $100,000-to-win finale on Saturday night, McDowell started third in his heat race and powered to the victory over Ricky Thornton Jr. and Chris Madden. Dale started on the outside pole in the 100-lap main event and wound up sixth in the finale.
