McDowell earns pair of Top-5 finishes with Outlaws in return to racing
Returning to the driver's seat for the first time since having surgery, Dale McDowell and his Shane McDowell Racing team showed up to Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) on Friday afternoon to kick off a doubleheader with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.
With 35 entries on hand, McDowell started 10th in the $12,000-to-win feature and drove up to round out the Top-5 in fifth. The following night at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.), Dale started sixth in the $20,000 finale and wound up one spot inside the Top-5 in fourth. He trailed Bobby Pierce, Nick Hoffman, and Ricky Thornton Jr.
